South Side of the Black Canyon

On the 4th of July we took a trip to the Black Canyon National Park.

Whoa, Nellie, that is a very steep grade! Fortunately we were not pulling the 5th wheel! This road went down to the Gunnison River.

This place is phenomenal. It is a deep and rocky gorge in western Colorado - it starts near Gunnison and at the bottom the Gunnison river runs roughly in the direction of the Pacific. It has everything there from canyons to mountain views to a huge reservoir.

Breathtaking scenery, still very wild and undeveloped, very quiet and uncrowded.
