Granby, CO is located in the north central Rocky Mountains in a high mountain area called Middle Park.
Granby, CO began as a railroad town in 1905. It was chosen for it's central, easy to reach location where farmers, ranchers and travelers could go to meet the train and stage. Granby, CO soon became the service town of Grand County and still is today. Tourism became more important in Granby, CO as skiing became a larger business. With SolVista Basin is on the outskirts of town and Winter Park Ski Resort is only a few miles down the road. With all the hiking, mountain biking, horsebackriding, golfing, skiing, and fishing in and around Granby, CO, it is hard to imagine going anywhere else.
