Durango to Silverton, CO Narrow Gauge Train Ride

We arrived in Durango and set up camp and then took off to explore. Durango is a good sized town with lots to see.
The next day we rode the Durango - Silverton Narrow Gauge train. I was waiting for the the conductor to say "all aboard!"

All aboard! Take a delightful trip to the past on the Durango Silverton Railroad. Enjoy a scenic journey behind Durango’s historic coal-fired, steam-powered locomotive. Experience the sights and sounds of a romantic bygone era on the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad as it winds through the breathtaking canyons of San Juan National Forest to the old mining town of Silverton, a National Historic Landmark.

We rode the open-air gondola. It was great to have the wind in your face, the only trouble was the cinders from the coal-fired train.
